Dear Members and Friends of JASH, Have you registered to be part of our 2020 Annual Gala Reimagined & Online Silent Auction?  This is one of JASH’s BIGGEST annual events and it’s already less than one month away! This year, JASH is going virtual and our Gala will be televised on Saturday, November 14, at 8:00pm HST on KHNL. The event features great guest speakers and incredible entertainment, and it’s the best way you can catch up with everything the JASH community has accomplished over the year. Dear Members and Friends of JASH, This week, we bring you an exciting announcement regarding our upcoming Annual Friendship Golf Classic! First is the launch of our Golf Classic’s Golf Ball Drop fundraiser on November 2, 2020. This event will be great fun for everyone (not just golfers!), and you do not need to be registered for the Friendship Golf Classic to participate and win. With the help of Mauna Loa Helicopter, we’ll be dropping 1,000 golf balls from the sky over a target hole. The five balls that enter or are closest to the hole will win prizes! Dear Members and Friends of JASH, This week, the Japan-America Society of Hawaii celebrated our 44th birthday. On September 28, 1976, the Japan-America Society of Hawaii held its inaugural meeting at the Ilikai Hotel. The meeting was attended by about 200 people, including Hawaii Governor George R. Ariyoshi and Japanese Consul General Masao Tsukamoto. The officers elected that night were Frank E. Midkiff, president; former US Ambassador to Japan John M. Allison, vice president; Masaji Marumoto, vice president; Ralph Honda, secretary; and Sydney Kosasa, treasurer.
