Let’s learn origami from Hawaii’s Origami Swami, Ashley Nishihara, and make your own paper creations!
NO prior experience required!
Origami is a simple craft that doesn’t require any special equipment. In this series, you will learn about the art of origami and make your own creations that you can utilize as gifts or to decorate your house.
This series is geared towards kids in grades 1-5, but is also fun for older kids and adults.

1. Friday, July 10, 2020 ǀ 1:30PM-2:30PM ǀ Storygami 101
Learn origami while also listening to a collection of short stories. Great for beginners!
Stories and models folded include The Penguin Trio (Penguin), Penelope’s Party (Heart Brooch),
and The Bunny Rabbit Olympics (Rabbit).
Materials Needed: Three square 6” x 6” papers*
2. Friday, July 24, 2020 ǀ 1:30PM-2:30PM ǀ Storygami 102
Learn origami while also listening to a story.
Story and model folded include The Wishin’ Magician (Duck).
Keep some extra paper handy in case we have time for a bonus story!
Materials Needed: One square 6” x 6” paper*
(*The standard size of origami paper is 6” x 6”. If you don’t have origami paper, don’t worry! Any size square will do.)
Instructor: Ashley Nishihara
Ashley has been doing origami since age six and taught origami at Le Jardin Academy’s after school program for seven years. She is one of the organizers of the Hawaii Origami Club and volunteers at various events including JASH’s Japan Day and Japan Wizards Competition to introduce the art of origami to Hawaii’s youth. She also has her own business teaching origami after school to children grades K-6 at various schools.
You will receive the ZOOM link and information after your registration is confirmed.

The Annual Dinner also features a silent auction where guests may place bids to win a variety of wonderful items.
