JASH Educational Program Participants and Friends Join The 2026 Oahu Charity Walk

On May 2, 2026, the Japan-America Society of Hawaii (JASH) proudly participated in the 2026 Oʻahu Visitor Industry Charity Walk, joining many organizations across the island in support of local nonprofits and community programs. This year, JASH Educational Program participants walked as Team JASH, joined by our Junior Ambassadors from the Asian-Pacific Children’s Convention (APCC), winning teams of the Japan Wizards Competition (JWC), and our Peace Scholars from the Hiroshima Peace Scholarship (HPS), as well as APCC alumni and friends.

In addition to walking, JASH staff volunteered as course marshals, helping guide participants along the route and ensure the event ran smoothly.

The Charity Walk provided a meaningful opportunity for participants to step beyond the classroom and program activities and engage directly in community service. Walking alongside one another, participants not only supported a greater cause but also experienced firsthand the importance of collective action and contributing to the well-being of the community.

Giving back to the community is a core value shared across JASH programs. Events like the Charity Walk help reinforce the idea that even small individual contributions can create a lasting impact when combined with the efforts of many. For our students and alumni, the experience served as a reminder that leadership and global citizenship begin with local engagement and service.

Following the walk, a number of participants—primarily from the APCC program—gathered for a casual picnic. This time allowed them to relax, reconnect, and strengthen the friendships built through their shared experiences in JASH programs. It was especially meaningful to see former and current Junior Ambassadors connect, working together and getting to know one another through a variety of fun team-building games and activities, adding to the sense of connection and enjoyment shared throughout the day.

JASH extends its gratitude to all participants, families, and supporters who joined Team JASH for this year’s Charity Walk. We are proud of our participants’ enthusiasm and commitment, and we look forward to continuing to create opportunities that inspire service and meaningful connections.
