New Year’s Reception 2024

On January 24, 2024, Governor Josh Green and First Lady Jaime Green graciously opened Washington Place to the Japan-America Society of Hawaii (JASH) for our annual New Year’s Reception celebration.

To kick off the Year of the Dragon, JASH President Reyna Kaneko along with Governor Josh Green, Deputy Consul General Mikio Ozawa, Vice Admiral Blake Converse, JASH Board Chair Karen Knudsen, Deputy Managing Director Krishna Jayaram and Linda Rodrigues of Hilton Grand Vacations, Presenting Sponsor of the reception participated in the Kagami Wari ceremony to ring in the New Year.

The evening entertainment line up started with a thunderous performance by Ryugen Taiko headed by Nolan Miyahara and his group of Taiko drummers.

We were honored to welcome Anju Madoka of Madoka no Kai who performed solo as well as a duet with Nolan Miyahara of Ryugen Taiko.

In addition, Darin Miyashiro performed music on the koto beautifully. It was an evening of fantastic entertainment!
