8th JASH Language Exchange (JASH LangX)
On August 23, 2025, the Japan-America Society of Hawaii (JASH) welcomed 12 participants to its 8th JASH Language Exchange (JASH LangX), held from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the JASH office. This friendly session brought together JASH members and non-members to practice English and Japanese in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Participants enjoyed lively bilingual conversations, making new friends while exploring Japanese, American, and Hawaii cultures. JASH LangX continues to provide a unique space for language learning, cultural exchange, and friendship building across borders.
During this session, participants were introduced to JASH and its programs, followed by a simple ice-breaking activity that helped everyone feel comfortable and encouraged conversation. The relaxed and interactive setup allowed attendees to connect with each other and practice English and Japanese in a fun, welcoming setting.
LangX attendees came from diverse backgrounds and language proficiency levels, united by their enthusiasm for language and cultural exchange. Whether beginner or fluent, everyone had the opportunity to connect, learn, and grow.
Feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive:
Over 90% of participants strongly agreed with the statement, “I was satisfied with today’s language exchange session,” and over 83% strongly agreed with the statement, “I would like to participate in the next JASH Language Exchange session.”
Comments included:
“It was casual and relatively easy to communicate with partners. The timing for conversations was not too short nor too long, just right.”
“The people were very nice and engaging, and I liked the back and forth. The facilitators were also very encouraging.”
「色々な人と話せる機会がないので普段出会いがない方と話せることは楽しかったです。」(“I don’t often have the chance to talk with many different people, so it was fun to speak with people I wouldn’t normally meet.”)
「人の経験を聞くことができ楽しく参加できました。」(“I was able to hear about other people’s experiences and enjoyed participating.”)
